CoinEx orderly wind-down (Sept 2026) - the honest counter-example to the exit-scam pattern

On 14-15 Sep 2026, Haipo Yang (founder of CoinEx and the ViaBTC mining pool) announced that CoinEx will cease operations in an orderly wind-down. This is notable precisely because it is the honorable opposite of the pop-up-shell exit-scam pattern the map documents elsewhere (spec-binance-exit-scam / Crypto_Exit_Scam).

Why it belongs on the map

Two threads meet here: (1) a counter-example to Crypto_Exit_Scam - if it executes as stated, a full-reserve, withdrawals-honored, token-bought-back closure is how a responsible exchange dies; and (2) a compliance-cost-squeeze data point - a nine-year-old mid-tier CEX concluding that regulatory + security risk now exceeds the revenue that justifies it.
